Webhook

A webhook is a way for one application to send real-time data or notifications to another application as soon as a specific event occurs. A webhook does not repeatedly check for updates, waiting to see if a certain event occurs. Instead, it automatically triggers as soon as the event happens and sends relevant information to a specific URL. Events that can trigger a webhook include a customer registering for an account with an organization, a customer making a payment, or a customer uploading a file to an organization’s website.

Webhooks allow for immediate data transfer between systems. This automation makes the process of receiving and then sending information extremely efficient. Webhooks also have the benefit of being extremely flexible. They are easy to set up, easy to use, easy to scale, and extremely customizable.
